MAKU TEXTILES by designer Santanu Das is a slow fibre movement against rapid industrialisation and instead focuses on sustainability. Maku stands for sustainable blue and is the predominant colour used. Natural fibres, dyes and handmade textiles are employed to craft all Maku pieces. Each skillfully woven garment promotes the historic craft practices of India, such as the process of indigo dyeing, which is a 500-year-old heritage.
Maku attempts to tackle the issue of intolerance and limitless choices by narrowing the choices it gives its customers and in turn entices us to look deep into the products, material and aesthetic and revel in the details instead.
