ILA means Earth, AMRA means Mango Tree, RA means The Sun


Ilamra, a conscious clothing brand owned and led by sisters Yashila and Trishala Nara in Hyderabad, India. Ilamra is derived from the words ILA- Earth AMRA- Mango Tree RA- The Sun. The brand is an extension of all that inspired the two sisters and is a medium to communicate their thoughts, experiences and visuals of the world around them. In their mindful and thoughtfully designed pieces you can find glimpses of the people they meet, places they visit and a deep love for their country and culture. 

Ilamra began their journey with Kalamkari, a type of hand printed or hand block printed cotton textile. Kalamkari also refers to the ancient style of hand painting done with a tamarind pen and coloured in using natural dyes.

Making fashion for good and caring for the environment and artisans is hard wired into the DNA of this young and emerging brand since their inception. The brand collaborates with 1M1B, and has partnered with 50 artisans from the rural artisan community at Pedana, Andhra Pradesh, to revive indigenous textile crafts of ancient India. They work closely with their artisan community who are third generation artisans to produce fashion that cares for the environment and is heavily dependent on the rhythms of nature. Their impact for good strategy spans from fabric sourcing, mindful manufacturing and packaging.
