Ilamra uses organic cotton sourced from fields that use sustainable agricultural methods. Their products are crafted from hand block printed, hand-dyed using natural vegetable dyes on fabric that is painstakingly worked on by the artisans. No two fabric swatches look alike and each metre of fabric takes 21-26 days to complete. The brand works closely with 50 artisans from the rural artisan community at Pedana, Andhra Pradesh to produce the fabric and hand block printing.
Ilamra is a conscious clothing brand owned and led by sisters Yashila and Trishala Nara in Hyderabad, India. Ilamra is derived from the words:
ILA- Earth AMRA- Mango Tree RA- The Sun. The brand is an extension of all that inspired the two sisters and is a medium to communicate their thoughts, experiences and visuals of the world around them. In their mindful and thoughtfully designed pieces, you can find glimpses of the people they meet, places they visit and a deep love for their country and culture.
Ilamra began their journey with Kalamkari, a type of hand printed or hand block printed cotton textile. Kalamkari also refers to the ancient style of hand painting done with a tamarind pen and coloured in using natural dyes. Read More
